Millage Request to Fund Cass City Police in November

The Cass City Village Council approved asking residents to support a millage request during the Tuesday, Nov. 3 election.

Voters will be asked to approve an increase of .9932 mill for four years to fund the village's police department.

If approved, the request will be earmarked to be used only for police department operations such as patrolling, funding a school resource officer, community policing, and emergency responses.

If approved the millage will generate about $74,907 the first year.

Also, as required by state law, a small portion of the millage shall be captured by the Cass City Downtown Development Authority (DDA).
