During the meeting of the whole Lapeer County Board of Commissioners, they approved accepting some grants and doing some expenditures also.
The board approved: accepting the $3,000 annual grant contract for Friends of the Court.
Accepting the $69,840 grant for the mental health court, and the $44,869 grant for the drug court.
Accepting a $5,000 grant from Two Seven Oh Inc. Foundation for animal control.
The board also approved paying $4,098 to the Lexipol-Police One Academy for required state training, and to pay $6,000 for the local contribution for the match for a VAAA for senior services.
Approved paying $10,920 for Community Mental Health's annual subscription.
The board also approved establishing a self-funded health care plan for county employees beginning Jan. 1, 2027.
By doing that, employees should not see a change in their coverage, aside from one tier being eliminated.
Motions from the Committee of the Whole meetings are not final until they are approved at the following full board meeting, which is set for 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
