Vehicle Rolls Into Ditch In Sand Beach Township

Huron County Sheriff's deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident in Sand Beach Township on Tuesday, October 6th.
The accident happened around 4:45 in the afternoon on Buhl Road, approximately 200 feet south of Sand Beach Road.
According to the sheriff's report, a 79-year-old Harbor Beach man was moving his tan 2002 Ford Explorer in a driveway when he stepped out to check its position.
The vehicle was not in park and began rolling backward. The driver attempted to stop it but was unable to do so before it crossed the roadway and entered a ditch.
Eastern Huron Ambulance personnel checked the driver at the scene, but he declined transportation to the hospital.
Deputies listed improper backing as the hazardous action contributing to the crash. The vehicle was removed from the ditch by a towing service.
