A lifetime of military service, civic leadership, and community involvement is being remembered in Zilwaukee following the death of former city councilman and fire captain Robert Bohnsack.
Bohnsack passed away October 10th at the age of 82.
Born in Flint, he graduated from Mount Morris High School in 1961 before joining the U.S. Air Force, where he worked on fighter jets at Wurtsmith Air Force Base until his honorable discharge in 1966.
His career also included employment with General Motors, Steering Gear, and AC Spark Plug in Flint.
Beyond serving as a Zilwaukee fire captain and longtime councilman, Bohnsack was active in the Boy Scouts, Lions Club, and spent more than 32 years as an Alcoholics Anonymous leader.
Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday October 14th, in Saginaw, where the Zilwaukee Fire Department honored his legacy with a ceremonial firefighter walk-through.
