There are some Tuscola County townships that will have ballot issues during the Tuesday, Nov. 3, election.
AKRON TOWNSHIP:
Akron Township voters will be asked to approve renewing the 1 mill for five years on property in the township to provide funds for emergency services.
Because of the Headlee Rollback, the 1 mill that votes had previously approved had been reduced to .9994 per each thousand dollars which resulted in a loss of revenue for the township.
Approval of the millage request will restore the millage amount voters had approved, and would generate about $150,661 the first year.
ALMER TOWNSHIP:
Almer Township will ask voters to approve an increase of 1 mill for four years to fund improving, repairing, and maintaining roads.
If approved, the millage would generate about $84,000 the first year.
COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP:
Columbia Township voters will ask to approve two mileage requests.
The first ballot issue will request renewal of 1 mill for the year 2026 to the year 2033 to fund emergency services for fire and ambulance services and/or equipment.
If approved, the millage would generate about $144,000 the first year.
The second millage proposed will ask voters to approve 1.4927 mills for seven years.
The approval will restore the full millage amount voters previously approved that was reduced by the Headlee Rollback.
If approved, the millage will generate about $216,000 the first year.
DAYTON TOWNSHIP:
Dayton Township will ask voters to approve 1 mill for three years to fund maintaining and improving roads.
If approved, the millage would generate about $74,000.
TUSCOLA TOWNSHIP:
Tuscola Township will ask voters to approve an extra voted road improvement millage of 1 mill for four years.
The millage would fund upgrades, construction, improvements, dust control, and maintenance of roads in the township.
If approved, the millage would generate about $109,600 the first year.
