Mayville Fire Chief Terry Blackmer emailed his report to the Dayton Township Board of Trustees in time for this month's meeting.
He reported the new engine is up and running, and the department used fundraiser money to purchase items for the interior of the rig, which was getting all of the equipment fastened in place.
During audience participation, a resident asked what the process is to get a burn permit.
It was noted the best way is to go to the website and put in a request for a permit there. Blackmer will review the request. Depending on conditions, he will either approve or deny the request.
Requesting a permit is not an instant process so it is best to make a request in advance. There is no cost to get a burn permit.
Regarding fire department matters, the board did not receive a report from the Kingston Fire Department, which provides coverage to part of the township.
In other service matters, it was noted that Glen Fox resigned as the township's representative on the ambulance service.
It was suggested to contact Nathan Cobb because he previously served as the township's ambulance representative.
