HURON AREA TECHNICAL CENTER ANNOUNCES STUDENT OF THE MONTH

The Huron Technical Center recently announced the Student of the Month recipient for February.
Matthew Geiger is the HATC Student of the Month for February 2026. He is a Senior at Harbor Beach High School and is a second-year student in the Huron Area Technical Power Technical Program. He is the son of Kurt and Denise Geiger.
Matt is a senior in the Power Technology program. He consistently demonstrates a dependable work ethic, and a genuine eagerness to learn. He approaches tasks with focus, takes pride in his work, and actively seeks opportunities to grow his skills. He takes initiative, follows through on responsibilities, and demonstrates a thoughtful, careful approach to his work. His positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn make him a valued member in the classroom.
Matt has earned several industry-recognized certifications in Power Technology including OSHA 10 hr. General Industry, Snap-on 525 Multimeter, Snap-on Battery maintenance and engine stating, Snap-on Battery Charging, Snap-on Battery starting and engine starting diagnostics, EETC principals of small engine technology, You Science agricultural mechanics level 1 and level 2 and he is currently working on his Commercial Driver's License. Matt also participated in Skills USA in the Diesel Technology competition at ADI (Auto/Diesel Institute).
In addition to his academic achievements, Matt is currently completing on-the-job training (OJT) at J.W. Hunt of Bad Axe, gaining valuable hands-on experience. This experience allows him to apply classroom knowledge, develop professional skills, and work alongside professionals in the medium and heavy-duty truck repair industry.
Matt plans on pursuing a degree in Heavy Equipment Technology at Ferris University after high school. He will be honored during a luncheon at the Main Street Cafe, located inside the Huron Area Technical Center, and receive a certificate of award.
