Bad Axe Council is Updating Park and Recreation Plan

Over the last few years improvements have been done to the Bad Axe City park, and the plan is to do even more.
The city's proposed five-year park and recreation plan outlines updating the skate park as well as some other improvements.
Some concerns have been raised about how much the skate park is used.
Several improvements will be done throughout the park over five years.
The proposed plan in 2028 outlines replacing the old wood skate ramps with concrete ramps, adding lighting along with cameras as a safety measure.
In 2026, the plan calls for the pickleball courts, trail development, new restrooms, more maintenance, increasing non-recreational programs and access improvements.
There is nothing planned for 2027, but in 2029 adding some new playground equipment to be installed is planned.
In 2030, the only planned is maintenance.
The proposed improvements came about from a survey was done to get input on what residents want to have developed in their community.

Turning to other matters, the council is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the planning commission board until Dec. 30.
Filling that position is not expected to be done until Jan. 2026.
Also, they reappointed Kevin Richardson to the Central Huron Ambulance Board.
