Sheryl Jahn Selected as Next Huron County Treasurer

A new Huron County Treasurer was selected Wednesday afternoon.
Sheryl Jahn was selected to fill the open position that was created when Debra McCollum retired as treasurer after serving for 10 years.
The committee that was tasked to select a new treasurer consisted of District Court Judge Julienne Ferris, Prosecuting Attorney Timothy Rutkowski, and county Clerk Lori Neal.
The county accepted applications for the positon until Dec. 4, and then selected candidates to be interviewed.
Besides Jahn, Judy A. Lefere, and Laura A. Tyll were also interviewed.
With that done, background checks were done on the candidates. There were no issues found.
Jahn will start her new position in January 2026. She will have to run in the November 2026 election in order to complete the remainder of McCollum's term.
