Deckerville Schools Using Fund Equity to Balance Current Budget

During Monday's Deckerville Community School District's Board of Education meeting, there was a review of finances.
The board approved the revised budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year that was presented by Business Manager Marsha Taylor.
According to her, revenues totaled $8,098,842 and expenditures totaled $8,714,014 with the $615,172 shortfall being covered by using monies from the general fund.
After doing that, it is estimated the general fund balance will be $1,158,054 on June 30, 2026, which is the end of the school's fiscal year.
During the meeting, the board approved hiring R. C. Hendrick as the construction management group to help with preparing for a 2026 bond proposal for capital projects.
The board also approved hiring caches for the various sports.
For girls varsity track, the board hired Steve Linn, for boys varsity track Dan Woodard was hired, Linda Wright was hired as the assistant coach for both the boys and girls varsity track.
For varsity softball, Christi Pavlov's was hired, and the varsity softball assistant coaches will be Angela Steeb, Kristyn Theoblad, and Anthony Kubik.
Keegan Bowerman was hired to be the varsity baseball coach, but the assistant coach position for that sport remains open.
The board also approved hiring Sulyn Schumacher as the junior varsity boys track and Phyllis Ridley was hired as the junior high track.
For junior high school boys track, Sylvan Schumacher was hired and for the girl's junior varsity track Phyllis Ridley was hired.
Also, the board approved Harold and Ruthie Stocker to be the Friend of Youth as the district's representatives during the 54 annual Thumb Meet of Champions.
