Funding for the operations of the Central Huron Ambulance Service is secure.
The Bingham Township Board of Trustees approved paying the assessment levy for the ambulance's service of $10 per person for the population of Bingham Township, which also includes the village of Ubly.
The authority can assess a per person fee as part of the ambulance service converting to being governed by an authority instead of by a board of representatives.
It has been a long process for the ambulance service's change to get to this point.
Each of the municipalities that use the ambulance service had to agree to the change to being governed by an authority, which took several months as the issue went to each municipality one by one for approval.
Some of the advantages of changing from being governed by a board of representatives to operating under an authority is it limits liability and a special assessment district can levy a fee to pay for ambulance operations.
In other financial matters, approval was given to pay Wilkinson Solutions $20,145 for putting brine down during the Summer months in an effort to control dust on gravel roads.
That cost will be covered by the road fund millage account.
