The Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Board (MNRTF) has recommended that the Michigan Legislature approve 60 recreation development projects, which includes some in the Thumb area.
In Sanilac County, the recommendation was for $240,900 for Lexington Township's for the Cros-Lex Trail revitalization project.
For Sanilac County, the MNRTF recommended a $400,000 grant for improvements of the Polly Ann trailhead.
Also, two of the proposed 60 projects were in St. Clair County.
The MNRTF recommended $174,000 for the city of Yale for Mill Creek Waterfront acquisition of property, and recommended $175,000 for Kimball Township to acquire land to access the Black River.
Those recommended projects will go to the Michigan Legislature for review as part of the appropriations process. Upon approval, the Legislature will forward a bill to the governor for signing.
MNRTF is a restricted fund that was established in 1976 to provide funding for public acquisition of lands for resource protection and outdoor recreation.
