The Sanilac County Sheriff's Office has added three newly trained deputies to its uniform patrol ranks following their recent graduation from the Oakland Police Academy. Deputies Arlen Stocker and Carter Miller, both of Marlette, and Cole McLaughlin of Yale were formally sworn in on December 15th and will serve in the Uniform Services Division.

The deputies completed academy training on December 12th through a sponsorship program in which the sheriff's office covered tuition costs and provided pay during schooling. Upon graduation, they were officially classified as police officers with the agency.

Sheriff Paul Rich commended the new deputies for their commitment and preparation, noting that their training has equipped them to begin patrol duties in a demanding law enforcement environment. He added that the department looks forward to their continued development as they transition into active service.

Before working independently, the deputies will complete a structured field training program that pairs them with experienced officers to reinforce academy instruction and ensure readiness for full patrol responsibilities.
