The Tuscola County Board of Commissioners committee of the whole will meet at 8 a.m., on Monday, Feb. 23 in the boardroom of the Purdy Building at 125 W. Lincoln St., Caro.
According to the preliminary agenda, the state of Michigan wants to continue the lease agreement for the Michigan State Police Post (MSP) building at 1485 Cleaver Rd, Caro.
The proposed lease agreement is to run from Nov. 1, 2025, through Oct. 31, 2035, for a lease of $78,780 per year with installments of $6,565 per month paid if the county and the state agree on those terms.
The state doesn't directly own any buildings so they contract with a county to construct the building they need with the cost to construction paid back to with monthly lease payments.
When the Caro MSP #33 was build, it became the hub of the state's law enforcement operations. At that time, several MSP posts were closed - like the one in Huron County, to consolidate operations with Tuscola.
The county has been working on the lease agreement for several months.
They are also expected to review a request from the Tuscola County Advisor Council on Aging for $2,500 to support the Annual Dinner Dance for senior citizens on Sept. 17.
Those who cannot attend the meeting in person can do so virtually.
