Judge Prill Reinstates Seth Andrew Campbell's Driving Privileges

Huron County Circuit Court Judge Prill has ordered the restoration of driving privileges for Seth Andrew Campbell, overturning a previous denial by the Michigan Secretary of State.
Campbell, a veteran who served in Iraq, sought to regain his license after a history involving two drinking and driving offenses, a number of years ago.
His attorney, Dallas Rooney, argued that the state's hearing officer failed to perform due diligence, labeling the denial arbitrary.
The court reviewed evidence including a local substance abuse evaluation that found Campbell in sustained full remission with a good prognosis.
Documentation also included AA sign-in sheets and a statement from a VA physician confirming intermittent alcohol screening.
The Secretary of State had cited concerns over the consistency of support letters and the potential cessation of VA medical testing.
The court rejected these grounds, clarifying that the VA testing was related to a service-connected back injury rather than alcohol treatment.
Furthermore, the judge ruled that discrepancies regarding the exact date of sobriety - whether 2018 or 2019 - did not negate the fact that Campbell had maintained sobriety for years.
Concluding that the state's decision was made against the great weight of the evidence, the court ordered the reinstatement of driving privileges.
