Randy was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Irvin O’Parka.

Biography

Mr. Randy M. Peruski, 50 of Ubly passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his residence of an apparent heart attack. He was born on October 30, 1967 in Milan to Richard and Christine (Briolat) Peruski. He married Nancy O’Parka on October 15, 1988 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Randy was a graduate of Ubly High School. He worked all his life at his family business, Peruski Hardware of Ubly. He did snow removal for 26 years and was a track official at Ubly Dragway for 28 years. Randy was a former member of St. John Catholic Church in Ubly and a former member of the Ubly Fox Hunters. He enjoyed polkas, watching TV, especially drag racing, the woods and jamming out to 80’s rock music on Saturdays. Randy was anxiously waiting the arrival of his grandchild.

Biography

Carrie Lynn Brunni, 55, of Pigeon, died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit after a long illness. Carrie was born January 2, 1963 in Pigeon to the late Eldon and Arlene (Smith) Brunni. She graduated from Laker High School in 1981 and then attended one year at Delta College . In 1982, a major auto accident left her paralyzed, but that did not keep her from living a full and active life. She loved sports and played basketball, softball and other sports throughout high school. And after her injury she continued to be engaged by coaching a girls softball team. She was a kind and generous person, ready to help others in need. She also helped manage Pigeon Hardware.

Biography

Ute Elisabeth Ernsberger (geb Herkle-Zeiske), 68 of Jonesville passed away at home on Saturday, April 7, 2018 while surrounded by her loving family. Ute was born October 13, 1949 to Erwin and Frieda (geb Herkle) Zeiske in Heidelberg, Germany. She married Don Ernsberger on September 29, 1967 in Heidelberg and they moved to Coldwater the same year. She was employed at Shaw Shoe in Coldwater from 1968 until they closed, where she had served as a Union Steward and as Union President. Ute then went to work for Swift Armour Eckrich in Quincy from 1985 until her retirement in 2011. Ute attended Countryside Bible Church in Jonesville. She enjoyed traveling around the world, flower gardening, the outdoors, being with her family and especially her grandchildren.

ADA F. KARG, age 100 of Harbor Beach, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 at Huron Medical Center, under hospice care. She was born on January 22, 1918 in Palms to the late Ernest and Elva (Teeple) Thayer. Ada and Harry Karg were united in marriage on November 6, 1937 in Deckerville. Together they farmed for many years. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2003. Ada was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Harbor Beach. She was also a member of the Port Hope Retirees, the Quilter’s Club, Ladies Aide, and Farm Bureau. Ada loved to travel, quilting, embroidering, gardening, flowers, farming, cooking and baking. She truly enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren.

Lynda enjoyed bible study at the Harbor House, A & W, people watching, watching Andy bowl, doing puzzles, write poetry, the Detroit Tigers, especially Miggy, her BLT sandwiches, playing cards and dice games, watching movies, especially horror movies, going to garage sales, and travelling the countryside with Andy and being surprised where they ended up.

She was born on February 7, 1936 in Detroit to the late Emil and Winnifred Nora (Mullen) LeBouf. Nona and Francis Schulte were united in marriage on August 20, 1960 in Detroit. Nona was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, a life member of the AmVets Auxiliary, Grindstone Port Hope Sportsmen Club, Harbor Beach Lioness, Outsiders Club, Port Hope Retirees and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing bingo, doing her word searches and travelling to Las Vegas.

Mrs. Ann Louise Johnson Thompson, 82 of Ubly, passed away Wednesday morning, April 4, 2018 at the Huron County Medical Care Facility. She was born on September 19, 1935 in Chicago, IL to the late Arthur and Lucille (Roche) Grabruck. She married Henry Thompson on February 12, 1999 in Indiana. He preceded her in death in June of 2015. Ann graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit. Ann received her bachelor’s degree of education from the University of Detroit and attended special education classes at Eastern Michigan University. Her teaching career expanded for over 40 years and included teaching severely, multiple impaired, handicapped children in the Sanilac Intermediate School District (SISD). Ann started the Therapeutic Horse Riding program at SISD for special needs children. She was a member for the Sanilac County Mental Health Board for 18 years and a member of the Austin Township Zoning Committee. Ann’s passions in life included taking pictures, being outdoors and her beloved animals that were under her care. She truly cherished time spent with her loving grandchildren.

Robert R. Burkhard, age 79, of Bad Axe, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Bay McLaren Hospital in Bay City. Robert was born on November 3, 1938 in Harbor Beach, son of the late Alexander and Edith (Gerstenschlager) Burkhard. He married Betty Lou Koglin on April 19, 1958. Robert enjoyed quality time with his family and their children. He could be seen at many of his hobbies, but he especially enjoyed helping others out with his plumbing knowledge. He was an usher at OSLC for many years. He loved going on vacations, camping, fishing and traveling with his family. He could always be heard saying "I love all my family equal".

Dorothy R. (Dubs) Hafner, 94, of Pigeon died Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Home Sweet Home in Pigeon. Dorothy was born October 12, 1923 in Elkton to the late Bert and Hazel (Cummings) Dubs. She married Omar Hafner April 25, 1942 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville; he preceded her in death April 25, 2009. Together they farmed in Brookfield Township for 30+ years. She was a great cook and baker, and shared her talents with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and fishing with her husband in northern Michigan and spent winters in Florida until 2000. She was a previous member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Bach where she was a member of the Ladies Aide, choir and Altar Guild. After retiring and moving to Pigeon she was a member of Cross Lutheran Church. Pastor Tim Loehrke visited her often and she enjoyed her talks with him. She was a resident of Home Sweet Home for 10 years and the staff cared for her like one of their own family members. She enjoyed the time spent with all her grandchildren.

Michael M. MacPhee, age 68 of Bad Axe, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his home, under hospice care, with his family by his side. He was born on July 1, 1949 in Detroit. Michael served in the US Army, from 1968-1972. He and Darlene Luce were united in marriage on May 8, 1971 in St. Patrick’s Church in Portland, Michigan. Mike and Darlene lived in Portland from 1972-2006. Mike worked as a telephone installation/repair man for GTE before retiring from Verizon after many years of service. He collected stamps his whole life. He enjoyed going to the coffee shop to visit with the boys, selling 50/50 tickets, fishing, working on the lawn, eating at buffets and going to the casino. He never missed a beat with his grandchildren!

Raymond is survived by his son, David Ulrich of Bad Axe; his brothers, Edward Ulrich and his wife, Pearl of Pigeon and Walter Ulrich and his wife, Mary Ann of Royal Oak; his sisters, Mildred Mason of Saginaw, Clara Peppi of Burbank, California and Erna Varner and her husband, Leonard, of Midland; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Ulrich; his sister, Wilma Long and her husband, Bill and a brother-in-law, Al Peppi.

Raymond J. Ulrich, 98, of Bad Axe and formerly of Hemlock, Michigan, passed away on March 31, 2018 at the Huron County Medical Care Facility. Ray was born on April 28, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Raymond and Theresa (Reisthter) Ulrich. On August 15, 1953, he married Mildred Wardin. She preceded him in death on November 4, 2000. Ray was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock, Michigan. He was previously a dairy farmer in Hume Township.

Maureen J. Rasmussen, age 87, of Sebewaing, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018, in the comfort of her own home. Maureen was born on April 16, 1930, to Frederick and Anna (Christensen) Graves. She married Kenneth Rasmussen. They co-owned Rasmussen Transport, Inc. where she took care of all the bookkeeping. Maureen loved playing bingo and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing.

Biography

Mr. Raymond B. Booms, 81 of Ruth, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Autumnwood of Deckerville. He was born on June 10, 1936 in Harbor Beach, to the late Arthur and Henrietta (Kirsch) Booms. He married Elizabeth “Liz” Reid on March 27, 1999 in Forestville. Ray was a graduate of a country school. He worked around the state of Michigan for over 60 years as an auctioneer. He auctioned for the local fairs in Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola counties, Our Lady of Lake Huron and White Rock School/Museum. Ray was a member of the Grindstone and Fox Hunters Sportsman Club. He enjoyed playing on pool leagues and euchre, fishing, hunting, trips to the UP and socializing with friends in his clubs. He truly cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He grew up in Sheridan Township. Malcolm married Irene B. Schramski on November 6, 1965 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Port Austin; she preceded him in death on November 1, 1990. Early in his life he worked as a sailor on the Great Lakes, he retired from truck driving for Active. He was a member of the Sebewaing American Legion.

Biography

David N. Mousseau, 82, of Kinde, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on March 28, 2018 at his home under hospice care. Dave was born on March 16, 1936 in Dwight Township to the late Nelson and Arla (Chapdelaine) Mousseau. He married Nancy Mousseau on June 30, 1956 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Kinde. She preceded him in death on April 11, 1997. He married Betty (Polega) Pawlowski on October 4, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Dave was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Kinde where he served as a Eucharistic minister, usher and taught catechism. He was on the Kinde Area Fire Department from 1957 – 2017, served as chief from 1973-1989. Dave was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1546; joining on April 4, 1966; he became a 1st degree Knight on April 14, 1966, 2nd degree and 3rd degree Knight on October 23, 1966, and earned his 4th Degree Bishop Babcock Assembly #487 on April 1, 1972 and served on the color corp. Dave owned and operated Mousseau Oil Company and worked as a rural U.S. Mail carrier for the Kinde and Filion area for thirty-six years. He also served on the Kinde Village Council, the Township Board of Review, and the Village Zoning Board and was involved with the Senior Citizens Club of Kinde. After his retirement, he worked at Kinde Farmers Co-Op. Dave was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, spending time with his family and grandchildren. Dave also enjoyed trips and visiting the casino often.

ORVILLE A. GAFFKE, age 92 of Port Hope, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Covenant Medical Center of Saginaw. He was born on October 16, 1925 in Port Hope to the late Emil and Clara (Schubring) Gaffke. He and Wanda Wallace were united in marriage on January 23, 1965 in Detroit. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2016. Orville worked as a Tool & Dye Machinest for over 30 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Port Hope. Orville liked woodworking, playing euchre, and loved to be with his children and grandchildren.

She was born on March 26, 1925 in Marysville, to the late Frank and Mae (Merchant) Koglin. Dora worked 5 years at Unell Manufacturing before staying home. Dora and Herman E. Pleiness were united in marriage on May 15, 1943. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1982. Dora and Delbert Collison were united in marriage on August 22, 1992. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2013. Dora was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Port Hope, a member of the Ladies Aide, the Port Hope and Kinde Retirees. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, gardening flowers, and doing puzzles.

Andrew was born January 4, 1986 in Pigeon to Robert and Susann (Freeman) Rowe. He graduated from Lakers High School in 2004. He had worked for 12 years at Thumb Tool and Engineering in Bad Axe as a programmer. He enjoyed the outdoors, golf, fixing anything, and mostly spending time with his children.

Biography

Clarence was born January 28, 1934, on the family farm in Oliver Township to the late Ernest and Marie (Wurst) Buchholz. He was baptized and confirmed at Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. He attended Cross Lutheran School from 4th to 8th grade and graduated from Elkton High School in 1952. On December 3, 1960, he married Inez Moeller at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe where he served as an Elder until 1974 when they moved to Elkton. He joined Cross Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and trustee. He worked on the family farm until he bought a truck and hauled loads for Pigeon Co-Op, Wallace and Morley, Agri-Sales and Smith Douglas, retiring in 2011. He loved deer hunting and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
