The reward for information identifying whoever dumped two German Shepherd puppies into Thread Lake has increased to $4,000. Crime Stoppers says additional donations, including one for $1,000 received on November 11th, helped boost the fund.
Investigators say the incident happened October 28th along Lakewood Drive near the Flint Golf Club, where the dogs, later named Ringo and Star, were found locked in a cage that had been tossed into the cold water. Both animals managed to escape, but Ringo became trapped in mud while Star ran after a passing pickup truck. Rescuers spotted the dog, followed her back, and saved Ringo from the shoreline.
The pair was taken to the Genesee County Animal Shelter, where staff reported both puppies were extremely underweight and suffering from various injuries.
Ringo was later euthanized due to severe bone fractures.
Crime Stoppers is asking anyone with information that could help identify the person responsible to call the anonymous tip line at 1-800-422-JAIL. Tips that lead to an arrest could earn a reward of up to $4,000.
