Lapeer County is Selling the Former Register of Deeds Building

The former Lapeer County Register of Deeds building at 279 North Court St., for sale.
During the last Lapeer County Board of Commissioners' meeting, the board approved allowing the County Administrator Moses Sanzo and Buildings and Grounds Director J.T. Anderson to accept the best offer made to buy the building.
During the meeting it was noted, there have been three offers to purchase the building that has been vacant since 2012 when that department moved into the annex building.
The listed purchase price for the three-story building that was constructed about 58 years ago is $150,000.
Because one of the interested parties for that building is offering to pay the full asking price, the building is expected to be sold by the end of this month.
In other action, approval was given to fill some positions.
The prosecutor's office received approval to hire two interns. One will start on Dec. 1, 2025, and work to June 1, 2026, and for the other intern to work from Dec. 1, 2025, to Sept. 1, 2026.
Approval was given for the Lapeer Health Department to fill the vacant public health nurse position.
Also, District Court was authorized to provide one week of training for the new court clerk to learn the operation of the criminal docket.
