Bay County Arc Steps Up Effort To Combat Food Insecurity

The Arc of Bay County is stepping up efforts to combat food insecurity among residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities after a federal court ordered the USDA to resume SNAP benefit funding.
Despite this and state efforts to reinstate assistance, leaders say the measures haven't resolved immediate hunger concerns for their 180 clients, most of whom can't work, lack transportation, and have limited ability to prepare meals.
Director Annette Jeske reports that many clients still run out of SNAP benefits before month's end, and national contingency funds won't cover all November payments.
The Arc continues to collect and distribute food and monetary donations, urging the community to donate bread, peanut butter, jelly, or canned tuna and chicken at their office or through their website.
