The Imlay City Commission will conduct a public hearing at 7 p.m. tonight (Tuesday, Nov. 4).

The hearing, which will be in the commission chambers at 150 North Main St., is regarding the establishment of a Neighborhood Improvement Authority (NIA), and the adoption of the Development and Tax Increment Financing Plans for the NIA.

The NIA district does not anticipate any plans to displace existing families or individuals.

The hearing is intended to provide an opportunity for interested citizens and property owners within the NIA to express their opinions on the project and the plan to finance it.

Some of the items that the NIA can be used for include: snow removal, roads, utilities, maintenance and development of sidewalks, which would encourage growth and promote economic development.

The NIA will consist of the entire city of Imlay City except for the downtown area that is in the Downtown Development Authority (DDA).

Copies of the information are available at city hall at 150 North Main St., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except on Wednesdays when the office is open from 1 to 4 p.m. The information is also available on the website www.imlaycity.org.
