A Saginaw County jury has found 38 year old Derrick Grant guilty of second-degree murder and felony firearm charges for the 2024 shooting death of his brother-in-law, Henry Ford.
Prosecutors said Grant shot Ford in September 2024 during an altercation in the parking lot of the Hoyt Library on Janes Avenue. Ford, 38, who worked as a security guard at the library, was struck several times and later died at a hospital.
Grant maintained the shooting was in self-defense, but surveillance footage from the scene contradicted that claim, according to investigators.
He is scheduled for sentencing on December 15th and could face life in prison with the possibility of parole.
