Man Charged with Abuse of Vulnerable Adult in Bad Axe (Huron County)

Back in October of last year (2024), authorities were alerted after a victim had handed a note to someone in her residence, pleading for help, alleging that she was being abused.
Following an investigation, 34 year old Eric Robert Dukes has been charged with third degree vulnerable adult abuse, which is a high court misdemeanor, which carries a possible two years in prison as and/or a fine of $2,500. During a hearing on January 27th, Dukes had stood mute and lead the court to enter a not guilty plea on hisbehalf. Pre-trial for Eric R. Dukes has been scheduled for Feburary 24th, meanwhile he reamins free on a $10,000 cash/surety bond.
It is important to note, only four weeks prior to this charge Dukes was also involved with an altercation at a local gas station, which caused some injuries to a Bad Axe Police sergeant. Dukes plead not guilty to the charges the resulting charges.
