Several updates regarding the fire department were provided during the last Sherman Township Board of Trustees meeting.
During the meeting, it was reported the township received a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) matching grant for $5,000 for turnout gear.
The board approved using that money to get two sets and to order them prior to the February price increase, and it was reported there are three outstanding fire run fees.
Regarding the fire department, Paris Township Fire contracts were discussed because there are incremental increases for the next three years for their service.
Paris Township will be charging Sherman Township $500 for the fire protection per section and $100 for the first responder coverage.
After learning that it was decided to have two township representatives attend a Paris township meeting.
The board also approved the request to add three modules to the fire station software at a total cost of $341 annually.
It was reported the enhancements to the E-dispatch for a CAD program will cost $300. It was decided to contact Huron County 911 to learn if they would cover the cost for it.
In reviewing the bills, it was noted that Emterra's invoice increased by 31 percent for trash collection services. It was decided to check with Waste Management on what they charge for waste collection service, and during the next meeting there will be discussion on landfill fees.
In other matters, the board set the monthly meeting and settlement meeting will be on Tuesday, March 18, at 7 p.m., and that the township's annual meeting will be at 7 p.m., on March 25.
