Although it will be a few months before mowing grass will become an issue, the Hume Township Board of Trustees got ahead of the problem at their last meeting.
The board accepted the quote from Brad Strozeski for 2025 lawn service. Under his quote, cutting the lawn at the township hall will cost $45 per cut, doing Spring cleanup will cost $700, and the charge for cutting the cemetery lawn per cut four times per year is $575.
During the meeting, the board announced a plan for this year to pave McMillan Road along with some miscellaneous gravel work on various roads.
Supervisor Bill Goretski will be meeting with the Huron County Road Commission to get the projected cost for road work this year.
Also, the annual Huron County Road Commission meeting for all the townships will be on March 11, at the Franklin Inn.
The board approved using the service of Bauckham, Thall, Seeber, Kaufman and Koches, P.C. as the township's legal counsel.
It was announced the change is because Young, Graham & Wendling, P.C. sold the practice and will no longer be providing legal services to the township.
It was noted township board members will not be taking any wage increases this year.
