Turning on the tap in some Huron County communities will be a little less expensive starting this month.
The Caseville City Council did a cost adjustment for water usage for those who live in Caseville Township, and in the village of Pigeon.
It will now cost residents in those areas $9 per thousand gallons.
It is actually a rate cut from the review last done in August and changed for the October and January billings, according to City Manager Jamie Learn.
That new rate for Caseville Township and the Village of Pigeon is effective Jan. 1 through March 31, for the April 1 billing.
In other matters, the Caseville Council wants to make elections uniform.
Officials started the process to do a charter amendment to change the term of council members to even years.
The change was requested by voters and would be a cost savings for the city.
The city conducts a General Election in November of odd years. Usually the only item on the ballot is the council seats and for the mayor.
The average cost for that election is around $3,000.
If moved to even years, the city would be in line with having a November election when there are state and federal races so it would be a cost savings.
To change the charter, it will require vote approval this November.
City officials are in the process of developing the ballot language to make that change to put before voters.
