The Brown City Community Schools Board of Education received an education from students who attend the Michigan Associations of Student Councils and Honor Societies (MASC-MAHS) Leadership Training Institute in Frankenmuth.

Student Council Advisor Liz Makedonsky along with students Jordyn Makedonsky, Tim Jacobs, Ryan Binkley-Potts, Elle Patterson, and Jack Ginger each explained what they learned from attending the institute training, and said they would like to incorporate what they learned there in their school.

Student Jack Gingell explained his involvement with the Congressional Youth Council: Michigan's #9 and how he and other students from the congressional district are working with Congresswoman Lisa McClain to draft a bill that could have the possibility of getting approved by congress.

The topic of the bill that is being worked on is "Great Lakes Pollution."

It was also noted that Wednesday, Feb. 12, is "count day" so it is important students attend classes that day.

Attendance is important because enrollment numbers will be reported to the state.

The number of students is a factor in how much per pupil state aid funding the district will receive.
