COVID cases and deaths have increased again (Greater Thumb)

According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services' (MDHHS) report on Dec. 31, 2024, the number of COVID cases in Michigan increased by 653 to 3,598 from the Dec. 18 report of 2,945 cases, and the virus is responsible for 5 additional deaths.
The MDHHS did not issue a county by county report during the Christmas holiday so only the raw number of cases and deaths are what is currently available.
Cases in Huron County now total 10,874, and the virus has caused 172 deaths.
Tuscola County has had 17,180 cases of COVID, and the virus killed 339 residents.
COVID cases in Sanilac County now total 11,890, and it has caused 245 deaths.
In St. Clair County, there have been 55,547 cases with 1,016 deaths.
In Saginaw County, there have been 66,400 cases with 1,185 fatal cases.
Bay County has had 34,589 cases of the virus, which has caused 745 deaths.
