There will be a contested race for the St. Clair County Sheriff position after all this fall.
Although challenger Warren Head lost his bid during the August election to unseat incumbent St. Clair County Sheriff Mat King, he will try again during the Nov. 5 general election, even though his name will not be on the ballot during this bid for the sheriff position.
During this election, Head will be running as a write-in candidate for sheriff, against King, who at one time he worked with. Head was a St. Clair County deputy for 30 years. He is the current Yale police chief, and has held other law enforcement positions over the years as well as having served in the Armed Forces.
