With the average temperature now in the 60s and 70s degrees, subzero temperatures will soon be the norm this winter.
To help prepare for that, the annual "Coats for Kids" drive for donations of gently-used kid's coats is underway in Huron County.
Donations of coats for children are being accepted throughout September at the: Pigeon District Library, Cross Lutheran School, Laker Elementary School, Caseville School, and the Caseville Market.
A variety of free coats will be available each Saturday in October from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the St. Francis Borgia Hall, 15 Moeller St., Pigeon.
Those who do not have a coat to donate can still help by giving a monetary donation to go towards buying coats.
To make such a donation, make checks payable to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Women's Society with "Coats for Kids" written in the memo line, and mailed to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 6253 Main St., Caseville, MI 48725.
