Marlette Schools to Ask Voters to Approve a Bond Issue on August 4th

Marlette Community Schools's Board of Education approved asking for a bond proposal during the Tuesday, Aug. 4, election.

The request will be for a $14 million bond for 22 years.

If approved, some of the things the bond will be used for is remodeling of school buildings, site development, and driveway improvements.

The millage works out to be about 2.15 mills.

The following is for informational purposes only: the estimated millage that will be levied for the proposed bonds is 2.15 mills for $2.15 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation.

The estimated simple average annual millage anticipated to be required to retire this bond debt is 2.41 mills.

The school district does not expect to borrow from the state to pay debt service on the bonds.

The total amount of qualified bonds currently outstanding is $3,140,000, but the total amount of qualified loans currently outstanding is $0.

Although the Marlette School District is primarily in Sanilac County, it extends into Tuscola County also.
