Caro, Mi - A mid-Michigan woman is using her personal health struggles to help others find healing in an unconventional way.
In Caro, Melissa Prusinski has launched "Our Healing Farm," a 40 acre space focused on equine-assisted support for people dealing with trauma, grief, and life challenges.
Prusinski says her journey began after she was diagnosed with late-stage Lyme disease more than seven years ago, a condition that led to severe complications including seizures and neurological damage. After reaching a critical point in her health, she says her recovery involved understanding the connection between physical illness and emotional trauma.
Now in remission, she offers sessions that combine time with horses and a faith-based approach, creating what she describes as a calming environment for reflection and recovery. Participants interact with the animals in guided sessions designed to reduce stress and encourage emotional healing.
Prusinski's daughter also assists on the farm and says working with the horses has had a positive impact on her own well-being.
The program is set to begin hosting sessions later this month. Prusinski has also expanded her outreach with a newly released book focused on healing and hope.
