Daniel Nast, a repeat offender, sealed a plea deal that could land him behind bars for years. Nash admitted guilt to his third operating while intoxicated charge, compounded by a habitual offender status.
The incident unfolded on January 27th in Hume Township where Nash was found operating a vehicle after consuming several beers. A blood test later confirmed his intoxication at 0.137. This isn't Nash's first brush with the law; his record includes multiple prior OWI convictions dating back to 1987, alongside a 2016 felony for domestic violence.
Under the terms of the agreement, prosecutors will not pursue additional habitual offender charges. And if available to him, the prosecutor does not object to enrollment in TRRC. However, the stakes remain high. Nash now faces a maximum of seven and a half years in prison, significant fines, mandatory vehicle immobilization, and other penalties.
His sentencing is set for April 27th, where the court will consider a pre-sentence investigation report. Nast remains free on a $30,000 personal recognizance bond, but must report to adult probation immediately.
