Huron County Coming Together, made up of local FFA chapters and community members were at Bad Axe High School Friday afternoon collecting donations to send to the relief efforts in Kansas. The thumb has been very supportive of the ranchers and farmers in Kansas, Colorado, Texas, and Oklahoma, and yesterday was no different. Around $8,000 in donations was collected and will be heading south to help farmers who have been hard hit by the wildfires. These donations will head to Marlette where they will be leaving on the next convoy to the Pan Handle.

Just this week a convoy headed out with more relief for the ranchers and farmers. They found more support along the way. On their way through Kansas they were wheeled into a scale. As they were pulling out, a farm teen from Kansas pulled the first truck in the convoy over and gave him $100. In Meade Kansas the convoy was resting in a truck stop when there were approached by a young girl asking if they were the drivers from Michigan who brought the hay for the cows. She was extremely exicted to meet them, and asked for their autographs. There may have even been a special truck parade by that elementary school the next morning.
