It takes a lot of time and patience to turn any ol' canine into a "good dog". With days, weeks or even months of trial and error, the old adage "you can't teach an old dog, new tricks" can feel more like a reality than a simple saying.
That is why two Sebewaing residents are bringing together their life experiences and combined expertise to create a new dog obedience program in our area! Reverend Cindy Parsons, who is a certified dog obedience instructor, is teaming up with Sebewaing Police Chief and experienced Police K-9 handler Steve Repkie, to help ensure you have all of the tools and know-how to create an even stronger bond with your furry friends.
Repkie, who spends most of his time around police dogs Zeus and Apollo, has day to day experience with the high performing canines in a range of different scenarios, such as handler protection, patrol security and even community involvement. He looks forward to assisting Parsons during the program, and sharing his own knowledge and how it can apply to you. The School Resource Dog, Blue, is also a shining example of what experience and training can bring, as he has been an emotional support and resource dog since the beginning of the 2022 school year.
Class begins at 7pm, on Wednesday, Feb. 5th, and will run until March 26th. The classes will be conducted at Bay Shore Camp, located at $450 North Miller St., Sebewaing.
The COST for the program is $100. To register, use the link: https://docs.google.com/.../1FAIpQLSfxRq3CaC9.../viewform
