A forty seven year old man from Caseville, was charged with 250 years in prison yesterday (Sept. 30th), for the sexual abuse of a child.
Corey Arthur-Clair Kessler was found guilty in July of 10 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under the age of thirteen, as well as 10 counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct.
The Huron County Sheriff's Office believes that, from statements from the victim, the first degree assaults happened more than 50 times, and the sexual touching happened more than 50 times as well. The victim testified during Kessler's previous appearance in court for the matter, "I cannot tell you about every single time (she was sexually assaulted) because it happened so often... After a while, it was something that was part of my life - it became routine." She also testified that "My whole life he (the defendant) told me that nobody was going to believe me" about the sexual assaults.
Judge Gerald Prill had concurred with the Huron County Prosecutor's for a consecutive sentencing, and had sentenced Kessler to the two and a half centuries in prison for his sexual abuse against a child, who is Kessler's biological daughter. This sentencing is an obvious message that sexual crimes against children, or any other residents of Huron County and beyond, will never be tolerated under any circumstances.
