The last Clifford Village Council meeting only lasted about 20 minutes before it had to be adjourned because there was not a quorum.
President John Ode called the meeting to order for the last time. Ode, who has been on the council for more than three decades, did not seek reelection.
Clerk Laura Fenton presented Ode with an engraved travel mug and a plaque as a thank you for his 34 years of service to the village.
According to Ode, over the years he has seen a lot of changes. He said he is proud of the accomplishments he helped herald, which included a new sewer system, a water tower, water system, and paving all the roads in town.
In turn, the council thanked him for his dedication and service.
And, during the public participation Richard Anderson complained about potholes on Marlette Road and the lack of gravel on the sides of the roads.
His complaints were turned over to the DPW.
The next order of business was officially accepting the results of the Nov. 3 election. With that done, Fenton swore Gary Fergurson in as president.
At that point, Ode turned the meeting over to him.
In doing that, there was no longer a quorum so the meeting was adjourned.
