The village of Kingston has a new clerk-treasurer.
The Kingston Village Council appointed Stefanie Bruce as the new clerk-treasurer. She replaces Heather Baker, who accepted another position.
The council also decided to change the clerk-treasurer position from salary to hourly rate with a maximum of 32 hours a week.
The starting wage for the position was set at $16.00 per hour, with a 50 cent raise after she obtains a clerk certification.
Also, she will receive an additional 50 cent raise on her one-year hire date which would bring the play to $17 per hour.
Another change was appointing Bob Phagan to the open partial trustee term position. The term will expire on Nov. 20, 2022.
In other business, a resident's request to have utilities to a vacant house stopped because no one was using water or generating trash.
According to the council, even though no one is living at the residence there is still a base price for water and sewer because they are still connected to the main and capable of being used, and garbage collection is under contract that doesn't end until February 2021. At that time, the service can be cancelled.
