MSU Extension District 10 Director Jerry Johnson spoke with the Huron County Commissioners Wednesday at its' Meeting of the Whole, and presented the Extension's Annual Report. He talked about how the extension is designed to pass along knowledge and its mission is to help people improve their lives. He noted that the county has large participation in the 4-H programs and that this year during the pandemic they waived the participation fee, hoping more would participate. He also said they didn't ask for an increase in the funding from the county this year for some of the salaries and programs. The board was told by Property Chair Steven Vaughan that the MSU office is being moved to a mobile office as the space it use to occupy will become additional space at the Veterans Clinic in the building. He showed preliminary plans for the new building for MSU Extension near the old office, by the Medical Care Facility, though the plans are being reworked for larger office space and a larger meeting room. There was concern about the temporary mobile office not being handicapped accessible, through the "American's With Disabilities Act,". Commissioner Todd Talaski felt the county should be pro-active and have an alternate space available if someone has disabilities cannot get in so they and MSU Extension personnel can meet..
