Huron County Sheriffs deputies were called to the Big Burning rural school house last week. Huron I.S.D. Superintendent and Superintendent of the Big Burning School Joe Murphy told us that no students or the teacher were injured and the teacher, Mrs. Daniel acted professionally. He said sheriffs deputies were called to the school. Murphy said Daniels, the Big Burning School Board and he, himself have the safety of the kids foremost in their minds. Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson was contacted, and he told us that his officers were called out on Wednesday May 17th to the school concerning the incident that occurred the day before on the 16th. Hanson said the incident involved an 11 year old who was alleged to have made threats with a steak knife. The Sheriffs Department has turned over to the Prosecutors office their information and a Juvenile Petition on the matter. Superintendent Murphy told us he was sure the matter would be discussed at the next monthly Big Burning School Board meeting.
