Bids were opened Tuesday for conducting the annual audit and replacing the roof at the Huron County Arena Building at the fairgrounds by the Huron County Commissioners. One bid was received for the audit which was turned over to the finance committee for a review and recommendation. There were two bids for an asphalt shingle roof replacement at the arena building. Those bids went to the properties committee for a recommendation at a future meeting. The board approved amending its meeting schedule, basically eliminating the third Tuesday of the month Meeting of the Whole. That meeting has been canceled a number of times already this year. At the short meeting of the whole at the beginning of the regular meeting, Commissioner Steve Vaughan noted that the farmer that rents farm land the county owns on Thomas Road had an incident where his hay mower was heavily damaged. Vaughan said ITC which handles the high power overhead lines had removed a pole in the field, however the cross tie was left in the field. Another farmer came and helped finish the work in that field. Vaughan felt even though it was county property, the farmer and ITC will need to work out the cost of damages.
