Caro City Manager Ryan Piche has tendered a letter of resignation with the City effective June 18th. Piche has been hired by Lewis County, New York, his home community, as the County Manager and will begin there on June 21st. The news of Piche leaving was made public when an article from New York announcing his hiring was circulated on Facebook.
In his letter of resignation to City of Caro officials Piche stated, “I want to be clear that I was not actively searching for new employment; this opportunity fulfills one of my deepest goals, and it is the only position for which I would risk the hardship of such a quick transition.” Piche has been with the City of Caro since February 1st, and originally told the Council he intended to spend years in the position of City Manager.
In the letter Piche also points out that the decision is strictly personal and has nothing to do with how he was treated in the community. “I have found the City staff to be experienced professionals, who have been cooperative and respectful at every turn. Likewise, I have felt nothing but warmth and hospitality from the Caro community.”
The resignation comes at a difficult time for the City of Caro. In that Piche says, “This was not an easy decision, and I wish more than anything that the timing was less problematic. I believe this is a community with incredible potential, and I’m truly sorry that I will not be playing a part in Caro’s undoubtedly bright future.”
Piche’s letter speaks to the fact that many of them are serving in their home town and thanks them for allowing him the opportunity to do the same in his home town.
In his letter, Piche does say, “Take comfort in knowing you have a capable veteran staff that will ensure all functions of government continue effectively through the entirety of the transition.”
