Despite several social media posts by a parent of a Central Middle School student, there were no credible threats of violence. According to officials from the school, located in Port Huron Township, the mother of one of the students made a post stating that she was going to organize bikers to come to the school and pass out anti-bullying materials after her child was in a fight at a school bus stop. The parent was told that permission was needed from the school district before the information was passed out on school property. The original post went viral, along with another post that said she had a surprise for Dean of Students Brett Van Drew and that "it's on now". That post led people to think on social medial that violence was planned for Wednesday at the school. St. Clair County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the school. The parent was contacted and came to the school and the posts were taken down by the parent. Port Huron Central interim Principal Ethan Barden said, “To ensure the safety of our students, we must and will take all threats and threatening posts on social media seriously. We would like to encourage parents and students who have an issue to contact the school directly, rather than make inappropriate comments on social media.” The investigation is ongoing. It's unknown at this time if charges will be sought.
