On a 3 yes- 4 no vote, the Huron County Commissioners Tuesday turned down a resolution that would restructure the Personnel Committee of the board. Committee Chairman Dave Peruski was looking to expand the board from 3 board members to a 4 person board, with one of them a non board member. After a lot of discussion concerning the pros of having 4 members in avoiding questions of two members together making a quorum of the committee, the board turned down the change. Many indicated the other changes, such as having a published meeting schedule, agendas, keeping minutes may be beneficial. Commissioner Ron Wruble at one point mentioned the other possibility of a 7 member committee with all the board on it, but that never came in as a motion for actual consideration. Talk also resurfaced on the possible benefits of a Human Resources person in county government as a first stop for employees seeking information on benefits, or other concerns that would make their way to the personnel committee. The personnel committee like all the other board committees are advisory and have no authority to take action on the own. They make recommendations for the full board to consider.
