The recommendation from the Huron County Planning Commission for a one year moratorium on commercial solar energy development was approved Tuesday by the Huron County Board of Commissioners at its regular meeting.   The board is hoping to get an ordinance in place using lessons learned from wind energy development to avoid some of the controversy and problems they have dealt with. The board took the action, after learning that there were reports of a solar firm looking to sign up land owners for projects. Casey May, Director of Market Development for Cypress Creek Renewables (right) was at the meeting and told the board there is a lot of miss information about what they are looking to do. The firm has 400 employees in 8 states and have done 160 solar projects, 120 to 125 of them they retain and operate. He was invited to talk with the board at next months full meeting of the whole on June 20th to talk about what they are looking to do in the area. May apologized for not talking with the board sooner, but said they usually like to come with a well developed plan.
