Earlier this month Letter Carriers nationwide teamed up with postal employees for the annual "Stamp Out Hunger " drive, where they collect non perishable foods left by people at their mailboxes. Debora Polega the food drive coordinator at the Bad Axe Post Office noted that postal workers in the Bad Axe service area collected 62 hundred pounds of food. The Port Austin letter carriers collected 18 hundred pounds while the Kinde - Filion area letter carriers came back with 11 hundred pounds. All the donations collected remain in the local area to help local families. They will be shared with entities like Huron County SafePlace, SHared Blessings Food Pantry, Bad Ax Free Methodist Church, Faith Gospel Tabernacle, The Community Food Pantry and Kinde Food Pantry. It was the 25th anniversary of the program through the National Association of Letter Carriers.
