Vassar is more beautiful and the scent chocolate filled the air on Saturday as volunteers planted approximately 17,500 petunias from the top of the hill through downtown to City Hall. Keep Vassar Beautiful once again held their annual petunia planting day with dozens of volunteers showing up to plant.
Students, civic organizations, and churches are among the groups that join with the Keep Vassar Beautiful organization in a cooperative community effort to plant the rows of petunias. Cocoa much is used to limit the growth of weeds and keep bugs out.
This is the 41st year for the project and once again, volunteers were welcomed at the Hillside Park for lunch as they completed work on their sections.
