A 4 TO 5 YEAR OLD BOY WAS FOUND WALKING ALONG M-142 SATURDAY AFTERNOON, APPARENTLY TRYING TO WALK TO GRANDMA'S HOUSE, BUT NOT KNOWING HOW TO GET THERE. HURON COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPUTIES WERE CALLED OUT AT 5:15PM SATURDAY AFTER A MOTORIST REPORTED THE CHILD ALONG THE ROADWAY. AFTER DEPUTIES ARRIVED, HARBOR BEACH POLICE CHIEF TODD BUCHOLTZ ADVISED THEM THERE WERE PEOPLE GOING AROUND DOOR TO DOOR ON SECOND AND THIRD STREETS LOOKING FOR A MISSING CHILD. DEPUTIES TALKED TO THE CHILD'S BABYSITTER, WHO SAID SHE WAS OUTSIDE WITH THE BOY. HE WENT IN TO THE HOUSE TO USE THE BATHROOM AND WHEN SHE WENT INSIDE TO CHECK ON HIM, HE WAS GONE. SHE SEARCHED ABOUT 20 MINUTES BEFORE POLICE ARRIVED. THE CHILD, WHO TOLD OFFICERS HIS NAME WAS CLAYTON WAS TURNED OVER TO HIS GRANDMOTHER IN PORT HOPE. A REPORT ON THE INCIDENT WAS BEING FORWARDED TO THE HURON COUNTY PROSECUTORS OFFICE AND DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES FOR REVIEW.
