City of Bad Axe hires new City Manager Wednesday

City of Bad Axe chose its' next City Manager at Wednesday's regular meeting of the city council. Upon the recommendation of the City Manager Hiring Committee the council chose Rob Stiverson for the job. He will start at the beginning of March. Current City Manager Dale VanDeVusse is retiring at the end of March which will allow for some time to bring Stiverson up to speed. Stiverson currently has his own engineering business Stiverson and Associates in Bad Axe. He will be leaving the business with his associate to take over. The committee interviewed 4 candidates for the position before making the recommendation.
In other action, the council approved the quote of Sobczak Construction of just over 119 thousand dollars to replace booster stations 1, 2 and 3 that bring water down from Port Austin, they approved allowing the Recreation and Events Committee to search for a company to update the Parks and Recreation Plan, and approved a resolution that will allow local residents to protest to the Board of Review in writing due to Covid 19 restrictions of face to face gatherings.
