In August, Chase Bank in downtown Marlette announced it is closing. The last day for the Chase Bank at 3064 Main St., is tomorrow, Oct. 10. The bank will be consolidating with its branch in Sandusky. Despite the bank's closing, Marlette area residents will still have financial institutions available to them. There is Independent Bank at 2593 S. Van Dyke Road, Tri-County Bank, 3483 S. Main St., and Chemical Bank at 2592 South Van Dyke Road, all in Marlette. The banks location in the heart of the downtown area was convenient for businesses to use, and for residents to walk to. Because of the bank's excellent condition and prime location, a reuse for it is expected to be found. Also, Marlette is part of the Project Rising Tide, which focuses on helping market available properties, and encourages economic development.
