State Representative Phil Green has introduced a plan to undo one of Governor Whitmer's many line-item vetoes, restoring funding to rural access hospitals. Green, of Millington, said there's a critical need for rural access hospitals throughout Michigan and the governor's veto was a "serious oversight." Green said "I believe the strength of communities is directly related to the quality of health care it has available to it," adding "I've been married to a nurse for 20 years, so I've learned a lot about the needs our state has for improved health care access." Green's measure is part of a bipartisan plan to restore funding to 24 programs vetoed by the governor on October 1.

Some of the other proposals would restore funding for:

    Critical access hospitals
    Rural access hospitals
    Newborn health care
    Autism resources
    Summer school reading programs
    Public charter school students
    Michigan tuition grants
    Career technical education equipment
    School safety grants
    County veteran services
    Sheriff road patrols

The plan was referred to the House Appropriations Committee for consideration.
